P90x Slacker!

Sorry for lapse in posts there folks! We have had a crazy couple of weeks around these parts, and I have been a little slacky on my work outs. I guess that's how life goes sometimes... Zade got RSV, luckily it never got severe enough to warrant hospitalization, thank goodness. He also had along with it a nice little ear infection, and then I got a nasty cold to boot. So, for the past couple weeks while Zade has had a hard time sleeping and I was tired and sick, my work out regimen suffered. But enough of my excuses ;) I am better and Zade is definitely on the mend! So we are back on track now, I haven't quite made it to my day 30 yet, but I will post when I get there. I also need to do a family post about Zade's updates (LIKE HIS NEW TOOTH!) and will hopefully get to that soon! Thanks for reading!

P90x DAY 17

Another week down, and I am still going strong! This is the third week, and the last week in the set before week four switches things up. I already feel stronger, and I have more energy too. I feel leaner, even though I only lost 1 pound this week. I'm still loving the workouts, I think the Plyometrics and the Kenpo are my favorite! Thanks for stopping by!

Rockin' On

So, after Zade's 4 month appointment, we got the OK to give him rice cereal twice a day. He didn't love it at first, and he is still not rice cereal's biggest fan, but he is getting much better at eating it! And you know what? I really think it is the secret to sleeping through the night. He now sleeps from about 8pm to 4am on the first go! After 4, he eats and goes right back down to sleep until 8 when Mommy has to go to work. He is such a good boy!
He is getting SO big! He now has to wear 6 month jammies because the 3 month size is just not tall enough for him! Here's a pic of him sporting the 6 monthers-
We have dinner every Sunday at my parent's house with the whole fam, including 2 of Zade's cousins who are both within a month of his age Owen - my brother's son, and Rowan - my cousin's baby. They were having a blast grabbing face and batting eachother while rolling on the floor!

Zade drew a picture for me and Alan today for the first time, courtesy of his Auntie Secelia (yes, my friends get to be his Aunts too!):

I love it! He is growing up so fast! But I am having a blast. We have fallen quite nicely into a good routine, and although I have never been a routine type of person, the stability is nice. We love our little Buggy Boy!

P90x DAY 10

That's right, 1/9 of the way there! I am seriously loving this workout. I will admit that the first 4 or 5 days I was so sore that people around me were getting annoyed with my involuntary groans every time I moved, but I just kept working out each night and I would feel better and better after each one. Now that the huge soreness is gone and I have back my full range of motion, I actually enjoy it when I move and feel that soreness or tightness. I already feel stronger, I know on day 1 I was surprised by my lack of abs, but I can already now do all the moves they do in Ab Ripper, just less reps. I feel so good after every workout, I can't believe I never worked out regularly before. It's awesome! Hello, ENDORPHINS! And it's also a great stress relief, especially the Kenpo X - Hi Ya!

Ok, so today was the moment of truth- time to get on the scale. I've never been one of those girls to feel apprehension about getting on the ol' scale, but for the first time in my life I had a fleeting moment of stress before I stepped on. However, I got my payoff. I lost 5 pounds! Wahoo! That is 2 better than my 3 pound goal. I also already feel more toned, and I am so excited to continue this workout!

Well, that's my update, thanks for the support and I'll blog P90x style again next Sunday!!

4 Months!

Holy cow! Zade is 4 months old!! (Well, technically he has been since monday ;) ). Here's a picture of the little guy on 10-4-10:

So cute, sitting in his bumbo! Well, time sure does fly when you're having fun, and when you are as busy as Al and I have been lately! Zade is growing just fine, and is a happy, healthy baby. We had his check-up today, and he is now 26 inches tall! That is in the 85%! Crazy. He is weighing in at 14 lbs, 11 oz which is only 45th percentile :) my tall little guy.

We're excited to give him rice cereal for the first time tonight, I'm hoping that will help him sleep through the night (we are up to 6 to 7 hours on the first go), as well as help his appetite. The boy is constantly hungry!! He had some shots today, but was in such a good mood that he only cried for a couple seconds and was totally fine when dad picked him up.

He is teething in full force now, and has 3 or 4 trying to push through on the bottom. He is always putting anything he can get his hands on (which he is getting really good at getting his hands on what he wants to grab) into his sweet little mouth. Not the least of which, his hands and my hair.

His new thing this week is squealing. He still babbles and coos, but he looooves to let go a loud high pitched happy squeal at any given moment. I have to admit, it's pretty adorable :). We are loving and enjoying every moment with our little guy, I am SO envious of stay at home moms!! Snuggling with Zade is just what the doctor ordered after a long day at work.

On another note, our sitter recently informed us that she is no longer watching Zade. So, if anyone out there knows someone they trust who is sitting and is CHEAP, pass the info along my way! I would so appreciate it! I need someone ASAP as she isn't currently watching him as it is and just told us that she isn't going to resume watching him. Thanks everyone!

RANDOM!!

So, a while back, about 3 years to be precise, I worked for a paper company with an array of interesting people. I started to write down a bunch of my experiences there intending to some day write a fiction-based-on-non-fiction book about my time there, which never happened. I just now stumbled across this one that I wrote about a pretty embarrassing moment of mine. The whole story is 100% true, I just changed everyone's name but my own. Just in case. Enjoy!

(please don't steal this story without my permission, it's a little embarrassing hahaha!)

"The company's bathrooms were not entirely disgusting. If it wasn't for the dispensers and stalls, it would almost feel like home. Almost. There were complimentary women's sanitary items in little baskets on the backs of all the toilets, and little aerosol cans of freshener to keep the bathroom smelling nice. The problem with these was that the spray cap was gone on every single one of them. They just sat there, useless, a can with a tiny plastic straw sticking out of the top. They sat in random places around the bathroom, the one in the stall I had chosen was perched upon the toilet-paper dispenser.
I used the bathroom for my "number two" duties at almost the same time every day. I had mapped out when there was the least possible chance that someone would walk in on me because I often got stage fright in such situations. Being the type of person to not want anyone to know what I was doing in the bathroom, I had figured out a way to make the fresheners work by hitting the plastic straw part on top against the wall so a little bit sprayed out, covering any unpleasant odors. On this particular day, still sitting with my pants around my ankles, I hit the can against the wall. More than a little sprayed out. The can went off like a tear gas bomb, spraying the sickly sweet "mango" smell like crazy. I had a moment of panic as I tried to figure out how to make it stop. I bashed it against the wall a few more times, to no avail. Without really thinking about it, I had a moment of thought where I figured it would be best just to let the can roll away and pretend not to know a thing about it. I quickly dropped the can and as it rolled away from me- underneath the stall wall- I realized what a bad idea that was. I knew it would quickly fill the bathroom with air freshener, and the fumes were already making me light headed. It continued to spray as it rolled to the far stall, I could hear its crazy hissing as I rushed to finish what I was doing.
I flew out of the stall and into the far one, picking it up. I frantically looked around for something to do with it. More panicked now, as the smell was starting to make me dizzy, I looked for another option. I ran to the automatic paper towel dispenser and waved my hand across it. I ripped off the towel and held it over the nozzle. Immediately I noticed a bold warning on the can "WARNING: LIQUID FORM MAY CAUSE FROST BITE." Great. I let out a little scream as I flung everything I was holding into the trash can. Realizing that the "bomb" was still spraying, and it was bound to get toxic in here at any minute, I fished it out of the trash. What to do?
I ran out of the bathroom holding the can down by my side as surreptitiously as possible while it was hissing so loud. I crossed the office to the warehouse, and ran out the back exit, not before getting some seriously confused glances. I set the can down by the door outside to let it run it's course, figuring the smell would do less damage out here. I walked back inside and headed straight for Sally's desk to tell her about my stupid antics.
I walked up to her and immediately she crinkled her nose at me. "What is that smell! Ugh, it reeks!" I blushed. I hurriedly explained to her what had happened, ending in her laughing out loud and even letting go a loud snort. Sarah ambled back to her desk and groaned, "Jeez! I almost DIED in there! The bathroom is so slippery, I thought I was gonna break my neck!" This just brought Sally's laughter back on full force.
"Great, now i have go clean up the bathroom!" I could hear Sally trying to tell Sarah the story through her peals of laughter as I stalked to the ladies' room. Why did everyone suddenly have to go to the bathroom? Sable, the shakiest old person I had ever met, walked into the bathroom right behind me. I grabbed for some paper towels and tried to mop up the floor by the sinks, but it just smeared the oily substance around.
"They musta waxed the floor in here! It's so slippery!" JoAnne exclaimed as she tried to carefully pick her way to a stall. I couldn't help it, right at that moment the hilarity of the situation hit me. I started hooting with laughter as I ducked quickly out of the bathroom. I was still chuckling when I got back to my desk. The whole office smelled of sickly, artificial "mango" now. And people were definately starting to notice.
About 2 minutes later, two of the women in the office- Annie and Mary, were walking around to every woman in the office to warn her of the slippery danger of the restroom. When they got to the aisle of cubicles I was on, Sally burst out laughing again right after they told her to watch out. She started in on the story again. By the end of the day, everyone in the office had heard, and were muttering things like "Smellin' fresh!" everytime they saw me.
Before closing time, I ran to the restroom one last time and noticed a sign on the door "Careful! Slippery floor!!". Someone else had crossed out the word slippery and written "oily". I couldn't help but snicker. I walked into the bathroom to be taken over by the stong smell that still permeated the whole place. Count on me to keep the place fresh.
I pulled up to the auto shop where my husband worked, and was walking around the car to let him drive home, his nose crinkled up the way Sally's had, "What's that weird smell?"I sighed, Kelsey! You got some 'splainin' to do!"

Good times. Goooooood times.

P90x DAY 1

Ok boys and girls, my X-TREME workout started today! And to put it mildly... I got my butt kicked. In a really good way!! I'd forgotten how good it feels to work out! I will post my day 1 picture here, and will be posting progress pictures on day 30, 60, and 90 as well. On day 90 I will log my starting and ending weight, as well as starting and ending dress sizes. A week from Sunday will be my next P90x blog, and I will record how much weight (if any) I lost during the week.
Day one was Back and Chest and Ab Ripper. I was actually surprised with my arm and back strength, but my abs are weaker than they've been in my whole life! Go figure, having a baby weakens your abs! I was actually a little disappointed with how weak my abs actually were, but it's ok. 13 weeks and I'll be stronger!

Here's my DAY 1 picture (no giggles, please!):

What an UNFLATTERING shot :) We'll see how things go in 1 month!! Thanks for following me, and thanks for your support!!!

P90x Challenge

OK folks, now I have never been a very skinny girl, or even a super fit person. I generally don't stick to diets or workout regimens, but I really would like to. That's where you come in. In addition to blogging about my family and our adventures, I am going to add to this blog, my new personal attempt at bettering myself. The hope is that with the feeling (whether or not anyone actually cares or reads about it) that someone is watching my progress will motivate me to stick to my goal until it is completed. I am going to start the P90x workout on October 1st. I will log my feelings and progress throughout the workout, as well as post pictures on day 1, day 30, day 60, and of course, day 90. I will share any weight gain or loss, and on day 90 I will post my starting and ending weight as well as my starting and ending dress size. I will be weighing myself every Sunday, and will most likely blog about each week on those weigh-in days. I figured that after having a baby and trying to get back into shape anyway, why not go for it and try to get into the best shape of my life! Follow me here and share your support, and look for my day one blog and pictures on October 1st! Thanks everyone!!

He sure does love bath time! (excuse the pots in the sink! lol!!)

He is such a character! So smiley and talkative. He entertains me all day long!

Zade's Blessing

My dad blessed Zade for us this past Sunday. It was very beautiful, my dad's blessing was the most perfect baby blessing I have ever heard. I was honored to have him do it. Zade behaved himself the whole time, and of course looked thoroughly adorable! Pics from the day as well as his blessing photoshoot to come!!

Whew!

Sorry for the long break in the blog- I really am not organized for this kind of thing! But I am slowly figuring out how to be a working momma and still get in all the things I want to do :) Zadey-baby will be 3 months on Saturday, so I will take a moment to get you up to date from the last post on just how big my little man is getting!

Zade loves to goo and coo, and while we were on our first family vacation, he started laughing! He thinks I'm extremely hilarious, and quite frankly, I think his laugh is equally as hilarious!

Zade rolled over for the first time a few days ago, sadly for me he was with his babysitter when it happened (he is such a stinker.) He showed me his trick once yesterday, but he does it a lot for Sarah!

I have been singing Zade to sleep since he was born, and he has starting to sing with me. It is the funniest thing ever! Super cute. Maybe one day he'll be a famous singer! (hard to see the video, but you can hear him!)

Zade loves to stand (with assistance) more than to sit or lay, but if you put him on the floor on his back he can be easily amused for quite a while. However, he HATES tummy time. He gets very mad at me when we do it ;)

He is also teething already! They come up and go down and bug him, but none have broken the surface yet. He is starting to be able to bring some of his little teething toys into his mouth, but when he can't get a hold of one, hist chubby little fist will suffice :)

Zade slept through the night 2 nights ago, and I got a full 8 hours! I was super proud of him, but after last night I'm feeling it may be a while before we have a repeat of that!

He is doing so well for his sitter, Sarah, and her cute daughter Maddy. It is extremely hard for me to leave him when I work, and I'm grateful to them for taking care of him. It was super cute when I picked him up yesterday and I thanked Maddy for taking care of him and she said "I hold him all the time!" and as we left she said to Zade "I love you!" Melts my heart. She'll be a great big sister one day!

Love, Love, Love

I realized something the other day about love... Love is the same and different in so many ways! I love so many people, but the way that I love them differs slightly. No one on earth can prepare you for how much you are going to love your baby. I thought I understood the different loves there were- love for friends, love for family, love for lovers. In my mind I guess my love for Zade was going to fall under the love for family type of category, however I have had to create a new category- Love for Zade. The way I feel about him is insane! Every time he smiles, my heart skips a beat. Every time he cries, I rush to his side, never wanting anything in this life to hurt him in any way. Every time he makes a noise, I am a puddle on the floor. I LOVE that boy. I could look at him for hours, and often do! I would do anything for him, anything at all, if it meant his happiness. If it meant it would make him smile. If it meant his safety.

Now, I was probably the child that gave my parents the most sleepless nights, the most gray hairs, and the most grief. I never could understand why they cared so much who I was hanging out with, if I broke curfew, where I was even. I was a big girl, right? I knew what I could handle. And yet... I always needed my parents to bail me out. It's so silly looking back on this now. I now understand completely why my parents were the way they were, and in all honesty, I'm surprised they ever even let me leave the house! Zade should be so lucky! (Ha, just kidding!).

But really though, I am so grateful to my parents for loving me. I am so grateful to be able to experence this kind of love myself. It is such a beautiful thing, and I truly hope everyone can feel this for themselves someday!!

A quick blog while the boy sleeps...

7.5 weeks old?! How did we get here so fast? I love my little Zade, he is smiling like crazy! He is now starting to be fascinated by toys dangling above him, he tries so hard to make noises and occasionally will make a goo, or aroo sound. I was thinking today while I was feeding him about how I go back to work in 1 week. How am I going to do that?! Kudos to all you mama's who work, I am struggling knowing it's my last week with him at home. Everyone send strong vibes my way, so I can make it through!!

First Blog, First Post

The newest edition to Team Worner arrived on June 4th, 2010, weighing in at 7 lbs 12 oz, and measured 20.5 inches long. Zade Colter Worner, my beautiful little miracle. He gave us quite the scare when making his entrance into the world! Alan and I had been ansty, as any normal nine-months-pregnant couple would be, to get the baby here and had been going for long walks, jumping on trampolines, eating spicy foods, etc. etc. No luck. He was a stubborn boy and I often joked that he didn't know where the exit was and was going to bust out of me Alien-style. At the time I wasn't aware of just how accurate that would be.

Morning of June fourth, 2010: Cue me sleeping soundly in my bed after having been at labor and delivery until 2:30 AM with false labor. Might I add here that being sent home from labor and delivery SUCKS. You can just tell that everyone there feels just as bad as you do that you were wrong and the baby wasn't coming out. Anyway, back to me sleeping soundly at approximately 11:20 AM. I am suddenly awoken by what my sleepy brain interpreted as myself wetting the bed. However, I quickly realized by the sheer volume and constant rate at which the fluid was expelled that my water had broken. FINALLY! I called Alan at work and his first response is "So, should I come home?" Duh! Let's get this baby outta me!! Alan gets home, and I decide I want to shower and eat first since I know it will be a while before I can do either of those things, and then we are off to the hospital.

12:15 PM- A quick test to confirm that it IS amniotic fluid, and I'm not just having the longest pee of my life, and we are admitted. Everything is hooked up, and after a few tense minutes of the nurse searching around for the heartbeat, we are up and running. Two pokes to get the IV, but it's ok because my baby is coming! Checked, dialated to a 1, 80 percent effaced. This is going to be a while. SIKE! a readjustment of myself, caused a drastic drop in the baby's heartbeat, and though she tried to act otherwise, the almost overly cheerful nurse was making me a little worried. Another quick check and suddenly she was asking for a second opinion on what she though was "tissue" coming from my cervix- the 2nd nurse says "It's the cord, we have definitely got cord here!" She put pressure on the baby's head in an attempt to keep him from squishing the cord, they slammed my bed back so my head was lower than my feet, barked at Alan to keep up, and crashed into the entertainment center. Then we were off down the hallway, several nurses appearing from everywhere to help get me to the OR. The words "emergency C-section" made me hyperventilate as my natural birth plan flew out the window.

Arrival in the OR, nurses cutting clothing off me, washing my stomach, and just generally poking and prodding and frantically preparing me. Suddenly a mask was over my face, I couldn't breathe, and then it got dark. I woke up to a blonde nurse shoving a button into my hand and trying to explain to me how to use it to get pain meds into my system. My eyes were still so heavy but I managed to ask where the baby was and where Alan was. They were together and the baby was safe. My eyes closed again and I'm not sure exactly how I got to the hospital room that I was going to stay in.

Everyone was waiting for me in there- except for the baby. I was really anxious to meet this little guy as it seemed everyone else already had. Finally- Alan brought me the most beautiful thing I had ever laid eyes on and it was love at first sight.

Luckily, Zade is a tough guy (hello, he's a Worner!), and the pediatrician said that his apgar scores were higher than any other baby he had seen with a prolapsed cord as Zade's was. A lot of times babies can end up with brain damage or developmental delays or even in severe cases Cerebral Palsy. We were lucky we were at a hospital and that his cord didn't prolapse at home where I was stupidly showering and eating before going to the hospital.

I am so thankful for my beautiful family and I cannot wait for the years to come.
