Little Punkins

I took Zade to pick out pumpkins last week. We had a good time pulling a wagon, and digging through piles to find just the perfect one. Zade's favorite part was trying to jump into several random family's photos and playing with a couple cute little girls.

Sorry this blog was mostly pictures. Life is just moving along, and nothing too exciting is happening. We're missing Alan, but he's doing well in Alaska. Zade is getting so talkative and he impresses me every day with the words he knows and the things he picks up on. I love being home with him, we have a blast!

The Official Departure Date

Well.... sort of. While I don't have an exact date to the T yet, I can officially say that my family will once again be all together- in Alaska- next month! Holy cow. Yep, earlier than I have been spreading around, I know. But, Alan got subpoena'd (sp? lol) to court as a witness in a criminal case that was set for the 13th of THIS month. He called to let them know he was out of the state, they said it would really help the case if he could come, he said funds were tight right now, but should get better this month, they delayed the case 4 weeks. He'll be coming into town sometime before the 14th of November and leaving with Zade and I in tow sometime afterwards. I'm scrambling to get everything done that needs doing, but I am so SO ready to be with my husband again. It is killing me. We are STILL LOOKING FOR A RENTER! I want somebody I can fully trust so I haven't resorted to KSL yet, but I will next week if I haven't found anybody. Our current basement renters prove that awesome renters can be found on KSL, contrary to prior experiences. The details for anyone reading this that are unaware, we have a 4 bedroom house that we rent our basement out of. We currently have renters in the basement who we are keeping, so that leaves us with the main floor to rent out. The basement has it's own entrance, kitchen, etc. so there is no sharing of space. It's simply a 2 bedroom "apartment" with 1 bathroom, a kitchen/ dining area, and a living room. The 1 car garage attached to the house will be for whomever rents the upstairs as well. We are asking $800 per month, but this INCLUDES utilities, cable, and internet. Sorry to turn this blog post into an ad, but I really need to get this rented ASAP! Moving along, aside from that exciting news there is not much to report. I'm liking the gray days, they lend a mellow feel to Zade and my normally hectic days. We've snuggled watching movies a couple times now which almost never happens- Zade is usually far too busy to snuggle. He is getting bigger and cuter and we are doing great living the stay-at-home-momma dream. Zade's been such a ham again since he's gotten over his infection (today was the last day of antibiotics WOO!), he has been pulling his pants off with varying amounts of success. When he does get them off, he likes to then put them on his head. So funny! Also weird because he absolutely refuses to wear hats. He's so strange! But I love his guts. Talk to y'all later! XOXO

Zade Loves the Little Animals

So, my little Zade-y poo is finally on the mend. We found out that he has a tonsil infection and he is now on an antibiotic. His fever lasted for almost 4 days, but today was his first day since Monday where he was fever-free! Woohoo!! He was still pretty tired, but I'm glad things are starting to get better, sick babies are the worst :( Today we had a treat, though. We got to visit Alan's aunt's house where there are many animals to be loved, petted, played with, and fed. Neither of us had ever been there before, so it was really fun. There were 8 horses, a bunch of chickens, 2 adorable baby goats, at least 4 cats running around, and a tractor to be ridden. Zade had a ball! Here are some pics from the day:

Park City, Baking, and Sick Baby :(

Last weekend was a fun one, we spent Friday evening in Park City with my mom, Chase, Kim, and Owen- we had a yummy dinner and checked out the sweet condo we'd be staying in when we went back up on Sunday. Saturday we went to Logan for a friend's wedding, it was so nice to see a whole bunch of old family and childhood friends! Congrats to Whitney and Jackson! Sunday we were back up in the PC and hung out at the Park Silly Market- found some awesome finds, delicious food stuffs, and a crazy (but sweet) guy who fawned all over Zade and gave him some free beads. We had a lot of fun with Zade and Owen who are truly adorable with each other, fun hanging at the pool, and just generally spending some fam time. It was a nice mini vacation not too far from home. Also a big thanks to Kim for doing the delicious cooking!

I decided that, being an at-home mommy, I would benefit from having a hobby. I recently started on a bit of a baking craze... which although is a delicious hobby, it isn't so good for the waistline. I made a whole bunch of yummy cookies, and was inspired to try out French Macarons. If you have never had one, I suggest you find one and eat it quickly. The are absolutely FANTASTIC. The texture is the best on this planet. My first attempt at them, however, was an utter failure. I will be trying again, and soon, with advice from someone who makes delicious ones. Maybe by Christmas I can stuff all my friends stockings with successful macarons! I have been more successful with some yummy meringue kisses, also a delightful texture, some chocolate chip cookies, soft pretzels, sugar cookies, etc. etc. etc. No wonder my jeans are getting tight!

Poor Zade has had a fever since yesterday morning that despite medicine has only gone up. It peaked at about 103.9 which was frightening, but after some cool bathing and compresses, an hour later I had it down to 103. I'm hoping we do OK tonight, we found out at the doc today that he has a tonsil infection. On a much happier note, when I went to fill his prescription of Omnicef, an antibiotic he has been on several times before, they informed me it had nearly doubled in price. Being the end of the month on a strict budget, I fell a lot short. After last night with a sick baby in my bed, I was tired an emotional and made a bit of an embarrassment of myself. I knew I could call Alan though, and he could transfer some money into my account, but in the midst of doing so I was informed that due to the kindness of a stranger I would only need to pay $25. Down from $82. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you wonderful, kind person. I did get the wonderful opportunity to thank them in person, which was nice. I hope I can pass along the good deed.

Stats, fish, and pre-Halloween!

I think the only person who reads my blog is my brother, Kyle. Which is really fine considering he lives so far away and is definitely one Zade's favorite people on the planet, and I'm happy to have a way to keep you up to speed on his goings-on, Uncle Kyle :)

So that's where I'll start with this post- lil Zade. We went to his 15 month check up last Wednesday and he got 3 booster shots and a clean bill of health. He is also weighing in at 23 lbs 5 oz, which is in the 58th percentile (being that he weighs more than 58 percent of babies born on his birthday, so pretty average), and he is 32.5 inches tall, which is in the 90th percentile. I know that will make Kyle happy, we have got a basketball player in the making. Zade is pretty obsessed with basketball these days, an obsession which Uncle Kyle instilled in him at a very young age. He loves it, which is fine by me, he will probably have the build for it :) Also, as the doctor casually asked me "So, is he saying 3 or 4 words now?" and I was like well... Zade says around 50 words now. The doctor seemed pretty impressed and we had to run through Zade's list of animal sounds that he knows now for the good doctor. I can't really think of any animal noises that Zade doesn't do now, he does cat, dog, snake, chicken, cow, monkey, lion, tiger, bear(oh my! all 3 very much the same noise), frog, and... yeah. A whole slew. I think there was a time in my life when my conversations were about things other than what each animal says, but especially now that I am home with Zade all the time, I can't really remember that time in my life. He also says many food words, everyone's name who he sees often (including my mom's cats' names), a lot of toy words, and his favorite word of all- which is "Hi!". He will have an entire conversation with someone with the word Hi.

Zade: Hi!

Random Stranger: Hey there! You're cute aren't you!

Z: Hi!

RS: Haha, hi!

Z: Hi!

RS: Yes, hello.

Z: Hi!

You get the idea. He says hi to anyone and everyone we meet, anywhere we go. I consider myself pretty comfortable with the age that Zade is at right now, I did the toddler classroom at a preschool for a few years and I really love the age. I am so excited that Zade is coming into it right now. He is quite honestly one of the busiest toddlers I have ever met, and he keeps me busy! I hate to say that I was a little thankful for the cold he woke up with today because it was a pretty chill day.

Zade wielding a spoon, but still sucking applesauce off his fingers :) He's actually pretty good with a spoon now- he can do foods like yogurt or applesauce that he just has to dip the spoon into and it sticks, but food like peas that roll around are harder. We'll get there :)

Zade's Grandma JoElen brought him a present a couple days ago being 5 goldfish in a jar. 4 of them died pretty fast, but we have one going strong. His name is Flake. Zade loves him. He gets so excited to watch him saying "Fish!" and making his fish "sound" which is the popping sound made when you open and close your lips. I think we'll be making a trip to the aquarium soon, because I think Zade will fully appreciate it now. He went once when he was very small, but I am excited to take him now, should be a fun trip!

Halloween-ers are happy, Halloween is getting close! I've always enjoyed Halloween at what I consider to be an appropriate level of enjoyment, and the older I get the less I really care to be honest. I have no clue what to be this year or what Zade should be. I have had a few ideas, but being a very last-minute kind of gal, I don't think I will really follow through with any of them. I am pleased, however, that you can get large bags of almost any kind of fun-size candy imaginable at your local store. Seriously, I love fun-size candy. Best part of Halloween. That's what all the trouble with making up a costume and trekking from house to house was for- FUN SIZE CANDY. I've discovered as an adult that it is much simpler to purchase said candy, however, and costumes have lost their appeal. Hopefully I can muster up some Halloween spirit, and make it fun for Zade. And get cute pictures.

Can we just start over?

Hello friends, it is I, Kelsey, the world's worst blogger! Seriously, though. Let's just let bygones be bygones and start over. I epic-ly failed at p90X, only making it to about day 35 or so, but that is no big shocker. Zade is a big, big boy now, a toddler in fact. Most of the reason I would like to start blogging again is due to the fact that my family will shortly be moving to Alaska. ALASKA! I'd like to have a way to let friends and family know how we all are, and what goes on in our day-to-day.

Alan has been in Alaska for just over 5 weeks and Zade and I are seriously missing him. No date is set yet as to when Zade and I will depart, but I will keep everyone posted. Alan is enjoying the work he is doing up there, and is happy to be reunited with his other other-half, his twin brother, Tobin. I am currently a stay-at-home momma and I could not be more pleased about it. Zade is 15 months now, and we'll have his check-up this Wednesday to see where he weighs in. He is talking a lot, and his language skills impress me. He jabbers a lot to fill in his sentences, but there are quite a few real words in his every day vocab already. He started walking a few days after his first birthday (June 4th), and hasn't looked back. He runs, he climbs, he spins, he dances, he falls. All that good stuff to make Mommy as tired as humanly possible by the end of the day. He is the sweetest little boy ever, he keeps me laughing, and I just freakin love him.

P90x Slacker!

Sorry for lapse in posts there folks! We have had a crazy couple of weeks around these parts, and I have been a little slacky on my work outs. I guess that's how life goes sometimes... Zade got RSV, luckily it never got severe enough to warrant hospitalization, thank goodness. He also had along with it a nice little ear infection, and then I got a nasty cold to boot. So, for the past couple weeks while Zade has had a hard time sleeping and I was tired and sick, my work out regimen suffered. But enough of my excuses ;) I am better and Zade is definitely on the mend! So we are back on track now, I haven't quite made it to my day 30 yet, but I will post when I get there. I also need to do a family post about Zade's updates (LIKE HIS NEW TOOTH!) and will hopefully get to that soon! Thanks for reading!
